The hits the glass never takes.

Ultrafit is a sacrificial layer. It sits on the outside of the windshield and takes what the road throws forward, then comes off and gets replaced when it has done its job. The glass underneath stays the glass the car left the factory with.

Rock chips

The stone off the truck ahead at highway speed. It lands on the film, not the glass, and there is no star to watch spread across the windshield.

Pitting & sandblast

Years of highway grit leave a windshield hazed with tiny pits you only notice at night, into oncoming headlights. The film takes them instead.

Wiper & wash scratches

Grit dragged across the glass by a wiper blade or a careless wash. Scratches stop at the film, and the film can be swapped.

The factory glass

On a car worth keeping original, the windshield it was built with matters. A chipped film is a peel-and-replace. A chipped windshield is not.

01 — Prep first

Prepped to our standard,
new or not.

Before any film touches the glass, the windshield is cleaned back to bare and polished. Wiper haze, water spots and road film all come off first, because whatever is under the film stays under the film. A brand-new car gets the same treatment as one with miles on it.

02 — Edge to edge

Cut with care.
Fitted to the glass.

The film is taken to the edge of the glass, not stopped an inch short of it. Ultrafit is optically clear, so from the driver's seat there is nothing to notice, which is the point.

Inspect & prep the surface

The glass cleaned back to bare and polished. Wiper haze, water spots and road film come off first.

Cut & fit the film

Cut to the windshield in front of us and laid on with InstaGel.

Work it down & set the edges

Worked down flat across the glass, with the edges set right to the edge of the windshield.

Cure & hand back

Left to cure, then handed back. From the driver’s seat, there is nothing to see.

Will I see it? Is it like tint?

No, and no. Tint is a solar film on the inside of the glass for heat and glare. Windshield protection film is an optically clear impact layer on the outside. From the driver's seat there is nothing to notice, and the wipers run over it as normal. The two do different jobs and can live on the same car.

What happens when it takes a hit?

The film takes it. A stone that would have chipped or starred the glass leaves a mark in the film instead. When the film has collected enough of them, it is peeled off and a fresh one goes on. The windshield underneath is untouched, which is the whole point.

How long does it last?

It is a sacrificial layer, so the honest answer is: until it has done its job. A car that lives on the interstate will use up a film faster than one that comes out on weekends. When it is time, replacing the film is a far smaller job than replacing the glass.

My windshield already has a chip. Can you still film it?

The film goes over the glass as it is. It will not hide or repair a chip that is already there. Have the chip repaired first, or if the glass is cracked, replaced, and then we film the new windshield so it stays new. We will tell you which it needs when we see it.

Can it be done with PPF and ceramic in the same visit?

Yes, and it usually is. Most of the cars you see on this page had the windshield done alongside Autobahn PPF and a ceramic coating. One drop-off, one hand-back, and every forward-facing surface covered at once.
