Color-Change PPF — Autobahn Matte Black

A new color.
Nothing lost.

Matte, or a whole new color, in protection film rather than vinyl. It stops stone chips and road rash like any PPF, and it comes off with the factory paint untouched.

What it delivers

A new finish. Still armor.

Color-change PPF is protection film first: the same class of urethane as clear film, made in matte and in color. The look changes. The protection does not.

01

A finish the factory never offered

Matte black, or a color the order sheet never had. Gloss to matte black is the change we see most, on everything from a Supra to a Raptor R.

02

Stone chips & road rash

It is protection film, not a wrap. Chips, rash and door strikes land on the film, exactly as they would on clear PPF.

03

Factory paint, sealed away

Underneath, the original paint is shut off from sun, sand and salt air for as long as the film is on. It ages slower covered than it ever would bare.

04

Reversible

A repaint is forever. Film comes off with heat, in the shop, and the car goes back to the color it was built in. Change your mind, or change it again.

How ours differs

The edge is the whole job.

01 — Edges closed

Parts off.
Edges closed.

A clear film edge disappears. A matte black edge on a silver car does not, so on a color change the edge is the whole job. Lights, handles, badges and trim come off so the film can wrap past the line and tuck behind it wherever the panel allows, and the seams land where the eye does not.

02 — Color where you choose

Color where you want it.
Carbon where it counts.

A color change does not have to be all or nothing. On the M4 the body went matte black and the carbon roof went under clear Rüstung, so the weave still shows through. Where the carbon shows, it stays clear.

Process

Four stages, whatever the color.

01

Decontaminate & prep the paint

Paint washed, decontaminated and prepped, because the film seals in whatever is under it.

02

Parts off, panels measured

Lights, handles, badges and trim come off so the film can wrap past the line wherever the panel allows.

03

Cut & fit the film

Each panel fitted, edges wrapped past the line and tucked behind it wherever the panel allows, seams where the eye does not land.

04

Seal, cure & hand back

Edges checked, the film left to cure, and the car handed back.

Questions

Straight answers.

Something we have not covered? Ask directly — replies come from the shop, not a call center.

Ask a question
Is this a wrap?

Not in the vinyl sense. A wrap is a thin vinyl film that changes the color and offers little protection underneath. Color-change PPF is protection film, the same class of urethane as our clear film, so it takes stone chips and road rash while it changes the look. Same car, one layer, both jobs.

Is it reversible? Will it hurt the paint?

It is designed to be removed by a professional with heat, and the factory paint underneath comes out as it went in. That is the point of doing this in film rather than paint: change your mind in a few years and the car goes back to original, or on to something else.

What finishes can I choose?

Matte black is the one we do most, gloss to matte on everything from a Supra to a Raptor R. Tell us the look you are after and we will show you what is available for your car.

Can it be ceramic coated?

Yes, and most color jobs leave with one. The Raptor R went out with two layers of Härt over its matte black film; the Model X with a full exterior coat including the wheel faces. It makes washing easier and keeps the finish even across every panel.

How do I wash and look after matte film?

Hand wash or touchless. No wax, no polish, no cutting compounds, and nothing that promises shine, because all of them leave gloss patches on a matte finish. Keep pressure-washer nozzles off the edges. The Raptor R comes back to us once a year for maintenance, and that is the routine we suggest.
